Details Emerge in Latest Sioux Falls Car Fire
More details are starting to trickle out regarding the most recent vehicle fire in Sioux Falls during the early morning hours of Tuesday (February 14). Sioux Falls police now believe the cause of the fire was arson.
KDLT TV reported Tuesday, that police and fire and rescue crews were called to the scene of a car fire around 2:00 AM that morning. According to the report, a woman was driving home early Tuesday morning and noticed an orange glow emanating from a car ahead. Once she determined it was a fire, she immediately called authorities.
Sioux Falls Fire and Rescue crews were able to put out the blaze within minutes of arriving at the scene.
Typically, vehicle fires are a pretty rare occurrence in Sioux Falls, until recent weeks anyway.
Officer Sam Clemens with the Sioux Falls Police Department says, "It’s not something we see all the time. The reasons could be a revenge thing, it could be kids playing around, or it could just be someone who wanted to do it. We’ve really seen a lot of things over the years, but obviously there is a potential for others to get harmed."
To date, there have been no injuries reported during any of the recent vehicle fires in the Sioux Empire.
Police are continuing to investigate the latest car fire in Sioux Falls, and as of right now, they deem it to be suspicious and consider it to be linked to arson.
