When it comes to downloading mobile apps for your phone, the first choices are usually games or weather apps.  But now South Dakotans can download a free app that they can use to help them make the right choices when they head to the polls.

South Dakota voters now have access to a free-to-download, mobile app to help prepare them for all upcoming elections. The Vote605 app is part of a digital user-friendly initiative set up by Secretary of State Jason Gant.

The Vote605 app is an app with features to find out if you are registered to vote, a map to your polling place and also allows voters to view a sample of their ballot.  Those that download the app can also put their name into the app which allows the voter to access personalized data such as party affiliation, county of registration and your ward and precinct information.

Secretary Gant says that the Vote605 app will be especially useful in both the primary and general elections because polling places may change throughout the state.

With the mapping function on Vote605 every voter will receive directions to their polling place.

The Secretary of State website has also been re-designed and is very user-friendly, providing information for smaller screens like tablets and smartphones.

The app is now available and free to download through the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store. For more information you can visit www.sdsos.gov.
