Do you trust your neighbor? You know the gossipy lady that lives next door, that likes to spy on everyone and get in their business. Or the couple down the street that looks like they're running a meth lab out of their house? What about the shady character that lives next to you, with the kid you suspect is shooting your dog with his BB gun?

If you're a little suspicious about your neighbors, you're not alone. According to a new study, over half of us don't trust our neighbors. And more than a quarter don't even know who they are!

The study revealed that only 34% of people try to welcome new neighbors, one in ten are suspicious when people move in and 14% are less trusting of people from "outside their community of friends."

What's that say about society? Are we all becoming super paranoid and anti-social?

Well, one thing we do know, the study showed it's not an "older" generation thing. Young people are even more leery of their neighbors.

62% of people aged 55 and over said they do trust their neighbors. But only 30% of 16 to 24 year olds agreed.

I’ve been lucky to have some great neighbors throughout the course of my life. I just got lucky I guess.

If you don’t already know your neighbors maybe you should make an effort to start? Ask to borrow a cup of sugar. Who knows you might make a new friend. Or maybe it will help confirm your suspicion that you need to have that security system installed.
