There is something doubly sad when a store goes out of business. First, if you were a patron and liked shopping there, you're simply sad to see them close. Second, a large building sitting empty with a vacant parking lot echoes a sort of desolation.

Thankfully, the empty eastside former Shopko store will soon be buzzing with a new identity and activity again. Sioux Falls Business with Jodi Schwan reports that Vern Eide is purchasing the location and has already begun construction.

They will be moving their Mitsubishi dealership, body shop, reconditioning center and pre-owned inventory to that location. The reconditioning center is currently in the 24th & Minnesota building which is for sale.

Vern Eide is hoping to be up and running in the Arrowhead Parkway & Sycamore Avenue location by the middle of next summer.

Just this week, the former 41st street Shopko location became home decor superstore At Home.
