It wasn’t long (a few days, actually) after Disney announced plans for a new Mary Poppins movie that a rumor began circulating that the studio had their sights set on Emily Blunt to play the title role. Someone at Disney must have a pretty strong vision board because Blunt is officially in talks to play the part originated by Julie Andrews in the 1964 classic. Wishes really do come true.

Variety reports that Blunt is in talks to play the title role in the upcoming Mary Poppins film, which Disney has described as a sequel — not a reboot or a remake. Rob Marshall will direct the sequel, which is reportedly set 20 years after the events of the first film and takes inspiration from P.L. Travers’ series of Poppins novels. The film will follow the further adventures of Mary and the Banks family in Depression-era London.

The original 1964 film starred Andrews as a magical nanny who comes to the aid of a banker and his struggling family in a pre-World War I London. Co-starring Dick Van Dyke, the musical film blended live-action, animation and special effects and went on to win five Oscars, including one for Best Actress for Julie Andrews.

Blunt appears next in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the totally bonkers-looking sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. She also stars in Tate Taylor’s adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl on the Train, scheduled to hit theaters this fall.
