It is hard to break out of the holiday inertia that seems to grip us all at the beginning of a new year. But a fun event that gets you and your family up on your feet, moving and laughing could be one way to do it. If that is the case, this could be just the adventure for you!

At last count, over 10 million people in the U.S. went ice skating last year. And because we live in a part of the world which gets its fair share of winter weather, you can bet many of those people live in South Dakota. Ice skating, when you think about it, truly is a celebration of winter!

In that spirit, the Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club (SFFSC) is hosting a free skating event this Saturday, January 5, from 7 to 8:30 PM, at the Scheel's IcePlex (4300 N. Bobhalla Drive) in Sioux Falls. There will be games and prizes, plus you can find out more about the programs the SFFSC has to offer. So dress warm and brush up on your skating skills or maybe learn some new ones.

The Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club's mission is to provide fun, affordable, skating instruction for all ages, whether you're a competitive skater or a complete novice. For more information see them online and on Facebook.
