The Helpline Center is a hub of connection in the best of times. It puts together those in need with those who can help. In the worst of times, it is still that hub under the added strain of finding willing, brave, and giving souls, to step into the fray and still change lives and our community, for the better.

During this COVID-19 outbreak these are just a few of the programs needing volunteers:

  • Faith Temple Food Giveaway - Every Friday at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds from 2:30 to 6:30, people who can carry at least 30 pounds are needed to pack food boxes and put them in people's vehicles.
  • Dakotabilities - Needs homemade cloth face masks for their staff. If you have the materials, the time and would like to donate, items can be dropped off at the Longfellow Center (1116 S. 4th Avenue) from 8 AM to 5 PM in the labeled box in the entryway.
  • The Banquet - Due to the opening of their second location, the Banquet needs volunteers to serve guests, more than ever. You can serve as an individual or join the Banquet Angels text service by texting Angels to 605-413-1971 or sign up on The Banquet Genius link.
  • DIY (Do It Yourself) Projects - These projects are perfect for individuals and families to do while isolating at home. You can choose any of the suggested fun packs, kits, or care packs, to put together and deliver to the Helpline Center at any time. They will then be distributed to the appropriate organizations.

These are just a few of the volunteer opportunities at Helpline Center this week. For more ideas on how you can help, or if you need help, call 211, see the Helpline Center online, and also on Facebook.
