Chances are you've had a song get stuck in your head before, right? You hear a certain song on the radio, TV or your iPod and the chorus of the song ends up forming an endless loop in your head.

When that happens you can only hope it's a song you actually like and not some annoying tune like the Macarena, Afternoon Delight or the Barney theme song that keeps replaying in your head like the repeat button is stuck on your mp3 player!

The good news, the next time that happens to you, there is now a cure.

Scientists have figured out a way to get a song out of your head.

Research done by Dr. Ira Hyman, a music psychologist at Western Washington University has revealed when you get a song stuck in your head, it's actually because that song is dominating your working memory.

So, how do you make it stop? Dr Hyman found that if you work on a puzzle or play a video game that's just SORT of hard, it will force your brain to concentrate on something else, therefore pushing that song stuck on repeat right out of your head!

The secret is finding the right puzzle or game. If you pick one that's too easy or too hard, it won't engage your mind enough. And your stuck with that annoying earworm of a tune that has burrowed into consciousness and is playing over and over.

Good luck in finding that perfect puzzle or video game. When you do, please share it with me. I'm still searching. And that damn "Oscar Mayer Wiener" theme song is really starting to get old!
