Downtown Sioux Falls is losing a food service retailer, and the Empire Mall is gaining one.

The popular downtown bakery known as Intoxibakes is on the move and headed in the direction of South Dakota's largest shopping complex.

Dakota News Now reports that Intoxibakes will be moving into the former Great American Cookies space near the Sanford Children’s Play Area in the Empire Mall this weekend.

Owners Holly Jorgenson and Josie Layton recently told SiouxFalls.Business, that they hope to reopen their bakery in its new location by Wednesday, (April 3).

Those of us who have a sweet tooth know that Intoxibakes has developed quite the reputation here in the Sioux Empire for creating delicious signature alcohol-infused baked goods as well as alcohol-free pastries good for a number of different occasions.

For the past five years, Intoxibakes has been located inside the Jones421 Building in downtown Sioux Falls. Jorgenson and Layton admit the new Empire Mall location might not be Intoxibakes forever home.

The permanent location for Intoxibakes is still up in the air. According to the article in Dakota News Now, the two owners are doing a month-to-month lease with the mall as they continue to work on their long-range plans.

In the meantime, it will be business as usual for Intoxibakes. The bakery will be creating all of its signature custom-made bakery items and wedding cake orders in its new temporary home for the foreseeable future.

Their hours will be 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday.
