A man has been charged with manslaughter after police say he left his 6-month old daughter in a hot car for several hours and then put her in the refrigerator.

Michael Thedford, a 33-year-old unemployed teacher from Texas, took his children to daycare on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He dropped off his 3-year-old and 5-year-old. His 6-month-old daughter wasn't going to daycare because she had a fever.

Thedford drove home, left the baby in the car seat in his van, then went inside and fell asleep while his wife was at work. The baby had been in the car in 90-degree temperatures. After he discovered the unresponsive baby, he took her inside and put her in the refrigerator with the door open and called 911. When deputies arrived, they found the baby dead in the kitchen.

Thedford was arrested, but posted $20,000 bail.
