Move To Topeka, Get $15,000

Just about everyone can agree that Sioux Falls is a great place to live and raise a family.  So, what would it take for you to leave?

How about $15,000?

That's what the city of Topeka, Kansas is offering people to relocate to their city.

The new program named 'Choose Topeka' will match employer funds and provide performance-based incentives to those willing to move to the Kansas state capitol and work for a year, GO Topeka announced.

"Choose Topeka was created with the intention of investing in employees to live and work in Topeka and Shawnee County, so that we may foster an 'intentional community,' one of community support builders," GO Topeka Vice President of Business Retention and Talent Initiatives Barbara Stapleton said in a press release.

Topeka will pay $15,000 to those looking to buy a home in the city and $10,000 to those looking to rent.

The city hopes to attract at least 40 people to various sectors like animal health science and financial services.

Topeka isn't the first region to offer this type of "moving bonus."  The states of Vermont and Oklahoma have done similar programs.
