The Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls has another shed to house their canoes and kayaks.

Fire claimed the previous incarnation of the shed, but Director Thea Miller Ryan is thankful for the groups who are volunteering their time to putting up a new structure. “We purchased the materials but the labor is being donated by Hegg Companies and Oakland Homes here in Sioux Falls. They’ve had several people here and they’re putting this building up faster than I even imagined.”

Miller Ryan says the building will be taller which will allow equipment to be stored vertically and it will be placed on the same spot as the previous structure. “We were lucky that the concrete made it through the fire. They said it would be safe enough to put the new building on it. We fit within all of the flood plain regulations. It’s just exciting.”

The shed will be immediately filled upon completion with people donating canoes and kayaks in advance of their Outdoor University event in early August. Plus a metal garage door will keep the contents secure.
