On my recent vacation to Montana, my sister and I were watching an old episode of NCIS and she saw an ancient computer monitor on a desk and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, who still has those old boat anchors anymore!" I told her I did and she looked at me like I had a Great White shark gnawing on my face. "You're kidding!" she responded.

Ben, (who apparently hasn't taken a picture of my messy desk and put it on Facebook in awhile) said he thought I must have the last ancient one in the building, but when I walked through our cubicle farm area this morning, I discovered that is not true and I suspect that many other businesses and workplaces may have a number of them too. Or am I wrong?

Our engineers save every single piece of old equipment they come across. It is shoved, stashed and stacked in at least four separate areas in our building. And not just electronic equipment like old computer monitors, keyboards, phones and microphones, either. We're talking wads of wiring, empty boxes, styrofoam, bubble-wrap, broken office chairs and a plethora of other items. I have a strong suspicion that all engineers are hoarders, but again, maybe that's just me.
