Do parents play favorites?  You bet they do.

According to a study done at Indiana University, mom or dad may appear to like one child best because he or she thinks that kid is smarter.

Though most parents vehemently deny giving any kids special treatment, the study found parents actually invest more time and money in kids who do better academically.

According to researchers involved in the project,

Parents get their "favorite" kids involved in more activities, eat more meals with them, and spend more time with their friends' parents.

Conversely, parents spend only a limited amount of time with their lower achieving kids, and that time is used primarily to focus on improving that child's performance.
