Power Still Out Downtown Sioux Falls

According to Xcel Enegery, crews have restored service to most of the downtown Sioux Falls customers who lost power early Friday morning . They worked through the night to repair the heavily damaged underground electricity system.

Service was back on just after noon Saturday to almost all of the about 200 customers whose power was out. Fewer than a dozen businesses, remained without power Saturday afternoon.

Crews will continue stringing and connecting underground cable and repairing other electrical components until all power is restored. Full restoration currently is expected by 7 a.m. Sunday.

Manhole covers were blown off and a sidewalk buckled when the outage started early Friday morning. The cause remains under investigation.
