Sioux Falls Animal Control officers are hoping to connect with a dog and ultimately his owners regarding a bite incident on Wednesday (October 4) in the 1000 block of N. Walts Avenue.

The bite happened at approximately 6:30 PM, according to a statement from Julie De Jong, Animal Control Supervisor with the Sioux Falls Police Department.

"A 24-year old woman was sitting on her front porch when a stray dog charged at her, forcefully knocked her over, and then bit her in the face." says DeJong. "The dog was described as a black lab and shepherd type mix with markings like a hound dog. The dog ran off in an unknown direction and it was not attended by an owner."

The purpose of locating the dog is to verify vaccinations, and bring that information to the woman.  Tips or information can be reported to Animal Control at 367-7000.
