Veteran's Day is a time to remember all veterans who fought and died to secure and protect our freedom in America.  The annual Veteran's Day program hosted by the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Military and Veterans Affairs Committee helps the community celebrate veterans and remember those who have served.

All are welcome to attend the service at Lincoln High School which will pay tribute to our local Sioux Empire veterans.  Jennie Doyen from the Sioux Falls Area Chamber says, "The ceremonies include a mass color presentation of flags from various military, veterans and service/civic club organizations in Sioux Falls and a performance by the Singing Legionnaires of American Legion Post 15."

There will also be an Award Ceremony for the veterans who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  Receiving the 2019 Veteran Outstanding Achievement Awards are Timothy Walsh, Disabled American Veterans Arthur H. Muchow Chapter; Phillip J. Bechtold, Dakota Marine Detachment #659; and G. Richard Ambrosius, Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #5355.

"Veterans and the families of veterans have sacrificed so much to allow us to live in freedom and opportunity in America. This ceremony is a way to honor them and show our gratitude for their selfless service," explains Doyen.

The Veteran's Day programs begin at 10:30 AM on Monday at Lincoln High School.  Visit the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Military and Veterans Affairs Committee for more information.
