A 46-year-old Sioux Falls man currently resides in the very thing he threatened to blow up.

KSFY TV is reporting Jerry Smith was taken into custody on Monday night (October 7) after police received a report that Smith was planning to blow up the Minnehaha County Jail building located near the 500 block of Minnesota Avenue.

The report states that authorities were notified after people witnessed Smith pointing at the Minnehaha County Jail building while making repeated comments about being angry with the jail facility and threatening to blow it up with a detonator.

According to KSFY, police arrested Smith and charged him with falsely reporting a threat.

After a further investigation into the matter, authorities say Smith did not have any explosives or a detonator in his possession at the time of his arrest.
