A Three–day winter celebration based in art, music, and cinema to support the State and promote downtown Sioux Falls running March 1st-3rd

The Sioux Falls State Theatre Company is partnering with downtown and local businesses to create the 2nd Annual “Party for the State,” a three day festival based in art, music and movies. Using “Kickstarter™”, as its on-line giving platform, tickets for the weekend can be obtained by providing as little as a $25 donation through Kickstarter™. Persons can access the State Theatre Kickstarter™ page by going to the www.siouxfallstatetheatre.org; http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/statetheatre/bring-down-the-curtain

Kickstarter™ is a private for-profit company that specializes in “crowd-funding”. Investors do not give money to a project seeking a financial return, but rather projects they feel passionate about. This is the State Theatre’s second Kickstarter™ event. Last year’s event exceeded its goal.

Friday March 1st “Be Still”
Ipso Gallery at Fresh Produce Event 6 to 8 pm.
Lanyard Pickup/Pre-Event at Icon at 4:30 pm
Sponsored by Fresh Produce and Icon Lounge

Still portraiture creates an unexpected intimacy between the viewer and the often everyday subjects on a canvas. Ipso Gallery invites you to Be Still and explore the works of Cassie Marie Edwards and Mark Stemwedel as they, each in their own way, find life in stillness. Also on display at "Be Still" will be the first State Theatre commissioned piece by James Sturdevant. This piece will be auctioned at the State Theatre GenuWine event on April 27th at Icon. In years to come, the State Theatre will ask a local artist to create an interpretation of the State Theatre that will then be auctioned off.
