I think this is so unbelievable sad. A 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his 16-year-old brother outside of Orlando, Fl. According to the FOX35 report the police are not going to charge the older brother. It is absolutely tragic.

If people are going to own guns it is so important to educate everyone in the household about proper gun safety. I grew up in a family that had numerous guns. We were and are hunters. My dad taught me from an early age that "you never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot" and "a gun is always loaded". And I instilled those same thoughts into my kids. Luckily, like me, they took that learning to heart and developed a very healthy respect for guns. I am not insinuating that the parents in this horrible situation had any culpability in this event at all. What I am saying is that the very least we can do is use this a teachable moment. Safety first!
