I don't know what this bright light in the South Dakota sky is.  It just appeared out of nowhere on Wednesday.  It's so bright that I can't look straight at it without it hurting my eyes.

This light also gives off heat.  It caused air temperature in Sioux Falls on Wednesday afternoon to rise to 82 after its appearance.  I've become used to temps in the 50s and 60s so imagine my surprise.

My research show says that this bright light is something called the sun.  I've heard of the old-timers talk about this 'sun' before though I never thought it would ever appear in South Dakota during my lifetime.

I've read somewhere that this sun object not only provides light and heat but is you stand in its glow for a while, it will give you something called a tan.  I will have to try that sometime.  One thing is for sure, it makes spending time outside rather enjoyable.

Hopefully, this sun will stick around a while.  It's certainly better than all the rain and clouds we have had in South Dakota for what seems like forever.  Maybe this sun thing will be the 'new normal', at least for a couple of months.
