Everyone is talking about the Super Bowl, from the football teams to the commercials to the halftime entertainment. But, what about the national anthem singer.

This Sunday, Idina Menzel will take the stage to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Idina scored her first top-10 pop hit this past year with "Let It Go," from the "Frozen" soundtack, but she's better known as a Tony-winning Broadway star.

Since I'm a huge "American Idol" fan, I should probably point out that four contestants have sung the anthem, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks and Jennifer Hudson.

The last time a male performer sang the anthem was in 2007 when Billy Joel did the honor. He is also one of only two artists ever to have been invited back twice. Aaron Neville was the other.

Who could forget Whitney Houston's performance in 1991?  It certainly marks one of the best ever.

So, who is the only South Dakotan to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl? That would be Huron native, Cheryl Ladd.  She performed in 1980 and dedicated the performance to the American hostages in Iran.
