Hey check this out, outside of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, the average American will eat more on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year.

Get ready to go deep into the calorie count this Super Sunday. The typical person will consume 2400 calories alone just while watching the big game!

It's easy to get a hands to the face penalty with all the beer, pizza, wings, tacos, chilli, chips, dips, little sliders and party mix lying around.

Then of course there's always the person that brings over the Super Bowl sugar cookies and sweet chocolate cake football bites. Intercept one to many of those, and before long, you too my friend will be big enough to play left tackle for the Vikings!

So what prevent defense can you run this Super Sunday to assure you won't be busting out of your belt after a few visits to the snack line of scrimmage?

Here are three simple option plays you can run to avoid getting caught in a weight gain trap play:

  • Alternate between beer and water.  A lot of the calories you get come from beer.  So obviously if you drink water too, you can cut those calories in half.  You can always take one for the team and don't drink at all. Be the safety valve and become the designated driver for your Super Bowl party.
  • Only eat at halftime. Or in other words, don't have those Super Bowl snacks in the grasp and attempt to play smashmouth during the entire game.
  • Finally, avoid these three foods. Pizza, chips, and wings.  Of all the stuff you find at Super Bowl parties, those three tend to have the most calories and fat. Which in turn give you the best chance of being blind sided and leave you feeling like a big ugly by the final gun.
